In order to gain such an approval, the researcher must provide an evaluation panel of the institution (typically an Institutional Review Board, IRB; or in our case theÿCollege Research Review Committee, CRRC) with information as to the type of participants they will use and how they will be handled within the research process. An important element of that handling process is informing the participants what to expect as part of the experimental condition.ÿFor this labÿI would like you to do the following:úÿÿÿÿÿÿ VisitÿMCC’s Human Subjects Researchÿ(Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.ÿweb site:1.ÿÿÿÿ Create an Informed Consent form for your research project, usingÿthe guidelines presented in the Bordens and Abbott textÿand inÿthis sample. ÿNote that the sample was created to depict a specific situation, you will need to create an Informed Consent form that mirrors your research and the sample that you will be using.2.ÿÿÿÿ Determineÿif your research must be reviewedÿ(Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.ÿby the CRRC; which, of course, isÿhighly likely.3.ÿÿÿÿ Complete the application requirements for Student Research; which includes completing theÿPHRP Trainingÿ(Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.ÿas listed and filling out theÿCollege Research Review Form.4.ÿÿÿÿ Send me an electronic copy of your informed consent form, your PHRP Training Certificate of Completion (if you haven’t already) and your completed College Research Review Form.
